Youth Cabinet meeting

On the 02.02.2021, the Youth Cabinet met for their regular monthly meeting. This was a good opportunity to discuss many different topics and we started off the meeting by discussing how young people are coping with home schooling and how different schools have adapted to working online.

For a while now, we have been working with the Youth Service to make improvements to the way young people can get involved and have their say in the Vale of Glamorgan. We call this the Participation Structure, and it outlines the different ways young people can get involved in decision-making at local, regional and national levels of democracy. This is something we think is really important and we have put together several different proposals for the Youth Service to consider. Hopefully we will be able to update you on the changes as soon as we have some feedback.

We also looked at the Make Your Mark results, with a specific focus on the Vale of Glamorgan results. “Support our mental health” and “Homelessness” were the top two issues voted for by young people locally and therefore we will be focusing on these issues for the rest of this term.

Overall, it was a really positive meeting and it was really nice to catch-up with each other and see how we were all doing.
