“In today’s Youth Cabinet meeting we welcomed  Linda Savory, the Electoral Registration Public Awareness Officer for the Vale of Glamorgan Council. She facilitated a consultation with us giving us more information on how we can boost public awareness on electoral registration amongst young people.”

It was very informative! It enabled Youth Cabinet members to find out about the process available for young people for voting in future elections now that in Wales young people aged 14+ are able to register to vote AND that those  aged 16+ are able to vote in the next Senedd elections! This is a positive step towards one of our objectives in this year’s action plan, which is to encourage more young people in the Vale of Glamorgan to register to vote.

If you want more information on having your say you can register to vote today by clicking the link for the UK Government website.

“We also discussed preparing a Q&A in the Vale, so that young people can submit questions to Councillors and the Vale Youth Service staff.”

Youth Cabinet are organising to host a digital Questions & Answer event alongside  Vale Youth Service Managers,  Vale Council Staff and Vale Cabinet Members to ask them questions put forward by young people in the Vale of Glamorgan.

If you have any questions you would like to put forward then please do get in touch, specifically around any of the following concerns:

  • Education for young people.
  • Support for young people.
  • Job opportunities for young people.

You can email  your questions to us at valeyouthcabinet@gmail.com you can also stay up to date with what our work by following us on twitter @VOGYouthMayor
