Vale Rights Ambassadors Complete UNCRC Training

18 young people from across the Vale of Glamorgan have completed a Level 1 UNCRC accreditation. The 8 week course started back in November and focused on the history of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child, its importance and how it affects children and young people in Wales.

The course enables young people to be well equipped to go out and promote Children’s Rights amongst their peers. Vale Rights Ambassadors deliver workshops raising awareness of the UNCRC to primary schools, young people and adults through a range of engaging activities.

The Vale Rights Ambassadors form part of Sally Holland, the Children’s Commissioner for Wales Community Ambassador Scheme. Community Ambassadors are children and young people who are a part of a special interest group and have volunteered to be ambassadors for the Children’s Commissioner for Wales to feed into her work. We also support the Super and Student Ambassadors schemes in the Vale.

Our new Vale Rights Ambassadors have already started to deliver workshops at primary schools and will continue to do so throughout the year. After half term they will be attending a number of youth clubs to raise awareness amongst young people. If any school or organisation would like for the Vale Rights Ambassadors to deliver workshops then please do get in touch by clicking here.
