Year councils at the newly established Pencoedtre High met last Friday to vote in School Parliament members. We now have 15 members of school parliament representing all year groups. Sub groups for the Parliament to work in include 1) Rights Ambassadors, 2) Teaching and Learning and 3) School and Community. The first official Parliament meeting is scheduled for 3rd October. Pupils are keen to be involved in decision making and other aspects of school life.

Pupils have already had the opportunity to take part in the voting for ‘Make Your Mark Campaign’ run by the UK Youth Parliament. The most voted for issue from our school was more awareness of Mental Health issues.

Pupils will also be voting for Youth Mayor during local democracy week – this year we have a candidate from our school running for the first time! Very exciting!

We are looking forward to posting regular news from our school this year – look out for more articles coming soon.
