Epilepsy Awareness Week at CCS March 2019

This year for Purple Day (March 26th), the national day of epilepsy awareness, we held a cake sale at KS3 and KS4 break times to help raise money for the Epilepsy Society. As well as the cake sale, wristbands and badges were sold during registration time.

In total, the school raised £448.90 for the society. Also, different members of the epilepsy awareness group went into Year 7 PSE lessons. For each PSE lesson, there was someone from the group who had epilepsy. This was important, as someone was there in each lesson to tell their story. The lessons also consisted of general information e.g. what epilepsy is and the different types of epilepsy.

I am very pleased that the fundraising for The Epilepsy Society has grown over the past year. Also, I have been happy to have been the leader of the Epilepsy Awareness project group during my time at CCS. It was important to me to be able to give back, as I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 3.
