Council Careers Fair

On Friday 5th April, we, the Youth Cabinet worked together with the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Careers Wales to hold a Council Careers Fair for pupils in Barry to raise awareness of the council as a future employer.
Approximately 70 young people from St Richard Gwyn, Pencoedtre and Whitmore were given the opportunity to speak to a variety of council departments, 15 in total, from mechanics to ICT to sport & play. They were also able to speak to local training providers such as CAVC, ACT Training and Careers Wales about their future plans.
Part of the event involved an official welcome from the Mayor and Cabinet Member for Learning and Skills and included an overview of the council as an employer and a Kahoot! quiz. Plus there were prizes for the winners!
We’d like to thank all those who attended and supported the event, we’ve had a lot of feedback which will hopefully mean an annual event can take place for all young people in the Vale of Glamorgan and can be bigger and better!
