On the 31.01.19 Nikita & I had the opportunity to visit the Vale Foodbank at Coastlands Family Church. The Foodbank helps local people in crisis and we decided to learn more about the work they do as part of the Vale Youth Service’s #12MonthsofKindness project.
The project encourages young people involved in different youth clubs and youth provisions across the Vale to give back to their community. As Youth Mayor & Deputy Youth Mayor we chose to donate to the foodbank and learn more about they work they do to help raise awareness.
We would like to thank Ann-Marie the centre manager for showing us around and telling us about the amazing work the 95 volunteers do and all of the work that is involved in providing food parcels to local people. From weighing and storing food donations, to welcoming local people several times a week and signposting to other services that can help.
Did you know last year the local community donated 47 tonnes of food to the foodbank? & Did you know that a third of foodbank users are under the age of 16?
